Moby joins Peter Hook And The Light On Stage In Hollywood At The Music Box, Hollywood Performing Songs From “Closer” prior to his second LA appearance with The Light At The El Rey Theatre, Los Angeles, Fri 16th Sept

Jane’s Addiction’s Perry Farrell also joins The Light to perform “Isolation”, returning to the same venue where he performed “Transmission” with the band last December.

Award winning electronic artist and long term Joy Division devotee, Moby joined Peter Hook And The Light on stage Weds 14th Sept at The Music Box LA, guesting with Hooky and the band on three tracks on the second night of their North American tour.

Moby appeared for a mid concert interlude to perform two tracks from “Closer”, the album with which The Light are touring the US, “Colony” and “A Means To An End” before returning with the band in the encore for a spirited and ferocious rendition of “Transmission”

Moby chose the tracks personally after requesting a guest list for the concert, and ever looking to get back onto the bass, Hooky asked him to “sing for his supper”. The appearance was supposed to be kept top secret until Moby tweeted and facebooked his movements for this week last Thursday to two and half million followers.

Given that Moby’s appearance was announced prior to the concerts, a surprise was also in store for the audience when Jane’s Addiction lead singer Perry Farrell joined the band to perform “Isolation”, returning to the same venue where he performed “Transmission” with the band on their debut US tour last December.

The Music Box show marks the first of two performances by Moby with The Light as he is set to join the band to sing songs from “Unknown Pleasures” this Fri 16th Sept in LA at the El Rey Theatre.

Hooky and Moby commented after the gig.

“I love coming to Los Angeles and I’m thoroughly delighted that two great musicians, Moby and Perry Farrell, joined me and The Light for a great gig. I’m touched by their support and their respect for Joy Division which they showed by delivering fantastic performances as always. I suppose LA’s not a lonely place after all.”

Peter Hook, Sept 2011

“I was excited and nervous to be singing Joy Division songs with Peter Hook and The Light but at soundcheck, hearing “Isolation” in an empty theatre was magical. When I went on to sing “Transmission” at the encore, I thought “Is this real?” It was an amazing experience.Thank you Peter Hook And The Light and everyone at The Music Box. Singing Joy Division songs is a dream come true for me. See you Friday.”

Moby, Sept 2011

Moby and Hooky’s relationship dates back to the Area One Festival tour of the States in 2001 and Moby is a self confessed long term fan of both Joy Division and New Order.

The Area One tour saw Moby join New Order live to perform “New Dawn Fades”, a song Moby had first covered on the B Side of his “Feeling So Real” single in 1994 which is considered by Joy Division’s devoted fans as one of the best ever covers of the band.

The Area One live version was to make it onto the soundtrack of Factory Records / Hacienda Movie “24 Hour Party People” in 2002 and Moby went onto produce another stunning cover, a ballad of New Order’s “Temptation” for his “Hotel Album” in 2005.

Perry Farrell and Peter Hook have also worked together previously, aside from live gigs, with Hooky featuring on two tracks from Perry’s Satellite Party side project’s album “Ultra Payloaded” in 2007 where both “Wish Upon A Dog Star” and “Kinky” featured Hooky’s inimitable bass style.
