First released in April 2013 , French house act Nova Nova see Peter Hook contribute bass on their EP “Low Ends” – a subtle and elegant track which stylishly recalls the wide expansive and open sound of Hooky’s earlier bands.

Led by clear, crisp melody lines and Hooky crystalline bass, Low Ends mixes Balearic sensibilities with some more club led intents with the original mix being developed for the dancefloor by Thierry Criscione and Slabb from Relax Beat,

Nova Nova came to work with Hooky when a track of theirs was passed to him by some years ago by Malcolm McClaren and Tony Wilson that Hooky began to play in his DJs sets. On hearing this, Marc Durif of Nova Nova contacted Hooky with a new song and asked him to contribute. The result is Low Ends.

A video has been shot and released for the EP and can be be viewed here. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eJexnWF0EDM

"If you’re like us you find Hooky’s bass playing pretty intoxicating. The man combines melody and bass groove in one instantly recognisable, and pretty nostalgic if you grew up with it, sound. Imagine that rolling over a shuffling Disco beat and sweet, icy strings. The tracks got a real 70s Disco flavour that seems like it would be a head on collision with the dancey, but pretty post-punk bass, but it doesn’t. Both elements work together to create this blissful sunrise vibe, and when the diamond sharp lead synths and dramatic piano kick in, the track hits just the right emotional notes. Pretty amazing, we’re gonna’ be saving this one for the summer." -

'Low Ends' is a smart blend of the electronic form of music and an irresistible bass line laid down by Hook...a breath of fresh air that may well give electronica a much needed new lease of life..The breakdown towards the end of the track is also a beautiful touch as it makes you think the song is about to come to a close, but instead gives you another delicious taste of the melodies that will, trust me, make you want to dance along.

"The tune brings in the unmistakable Hooky bass (rather Dreams Never End) early on, setting it against piano and background harmonies. The release comes with two good remixes though. These come from Slabb and Thierry Criscione. Parisian, Slabb takes the lush French house of the original and adds some lovely extra synth bass to go with that from Peter Hook to give a dreamy 80s disco feel. This is rooted on the dance floor, not in cocktail bars. Thierry Criscione goes for indie disco with a mid-80s New Order feel by bringing the bass front and centre."
